What happens when you had an accident in America?

Image
Accident. It is a thundering moment when you met with one.  This word is more heart shaking, when you hear it from your beloved one. I was in India with my new born second baby. Generally Vetri used to call me after his dinner that is around 9 am IST, I waited till 12 pm, and called him several times. Once he picked up, and said that he was busy and will call back in sometime. I assumed it to be some escalation or other off shore calls to him. Got the call from Vetri after 12pm. He said that he committed a blunder. I am scared but believed it to be in his office work only, but he continued that he had an accident. I was froze for seconds, from then my thought is only to see him. My voice call quality took his words perfectly to my ears, but my brain system, not accepted any sound and completely out of action. I asked him to come on skype. Vetri did not want to get irritated with the skype quality at that crucial time. He wanted me to listen everything over the ...

Introduced to Skype

As I said in my previous post  Bye Bye Fiance , Vetri left to US soon after engagement and thus our betrothal life had no hang outs . Communication between betrothal and wedding is far-reaching. So it is our technology that helped for it. Phone call: Vetri called me from his new number and asked me to call back, to confirm that everything is fine, in voice call communication. I too called him back but got a response to check the number. It is 1732....... uh! I understood + in front of the number was missing. It is a general thing, when you receive a call, either this + sign or country code+1 may get missed. I corrected and called him back. He picked up the call and questioned, how could you get the line, when my parents couldn't? I explained him what happened. Got the very first appreciation from him. From that I understood, how that techy guy has undervalued my basic knowledge.  Call to US cost Rs.6/minute. Then my sister in law suggested a rate ...

Pre-wedding shopping(part II)

Image
Shopping for wedding  not only includes the shopping for events, it includes for post wedding too. Though our wardrobe was dumped with variety of clothes, we go in short of sarees for sure. Because before marriage, our clothing majorly dominated with salwars, tops, leggings and couple of jeans and few sarees which were taken for sister, brother or friend's wedding. So, need for saree shopping will be a must. My mom then told me that it was our tradition to wear only sarees from mom home; i.e., not to be dependent on clothing from husband at least for one full year.  Wondered at our culture, our parents will search for a groom, who is capable of taking care of their daughter's basic needs, but won't trust on him completely. I have another view on this, if we purchase our needs before wedding, we can go ahead with our tastes and preferences. Place of living is more important in choosing clothes. Dress ethics differ from place to place. what you wear is the way o...

Things around us always teach us some silent lessons. Aloe vera and Jack fruit are few of these things that tells me the story of "Beauty and the Beast". Steps to Arranged Marriage

Image
Marriage is universally ultimate event in anyone's life. In India (I dont know about any other country), it is considered to be an ultimate family event. It is not just an union of two person, but of two families. The wedding can be finalized, only if it could be crossed each steps successfully, sidestepping is very dangerous.. There are many chances to slip at any step. Matching horoscope: I don't know much about this, but minimum 6 and maximum 10 attributes needs to be matched with each other.  Enquiry: Many in these days go for detective agency too. My mom being a single parent solely responsible for whatever decision she makes. With much hope on God and few reliable relatives' words, she did not inquire anything about Vetri in detail but enquired about their family in General.  Enquiry Result as follows:  - Very quiet family  -do not interfere in any controversy  - the house is always kept locked and members of the family could ...

Where are we going after wedding?

Image
No, it is not about the honeymoon. Since, Vetri had left to US, my friends and relatives are very curious to know, what next after wedding. Are we going to abode in abroad? Sorry, I was not sure about it then. Even I wanted to know. But I was waiting for him to begin this topic. U may think "waiting"? Yes, we had full six months between engagement and marriage. So, need not to urge for anything.   Then when the ice broke, he said there were three options left:  Chennai, Vellore and US . Then I came to know that he went to US with 6 months VISA and applied for extension. If it got approved, he will continue to stay there, that is after wedding. If not, will come back to work in Chennai. Vellore? since he comes back at the time of wedding, the possibility for finalizing the house to reside may take time, so by then, I need to stay back in Vellore with in laws. May be for couple of months. According to him, he had clarified me the situation. Yes I too understood ...

Bye Bye my fiance

Image
When I got engaged, Vetri was not tagged as an "American mappilai". He was only looking for onsite opportunity. This is what we knew. Suddenly a week after engagement, in an evening call, he told me that he might go to US in a week. To be frank, I am neither excited nor sad. That was an empty feel, "so, what should I do? inform my mom?". He asked me to do so after a final confirmation from his Manager. On the next weekend, we both met in our home town. I came exclusively to send him off to US.  That was the second time we met in same Jalagandeeswar Temple after engagement. That was all our hang out history in "betrothal to wedding" period. I gifted him a fastrack watch, that was my favorite brand. Later in Airport, I heard that he left it back in his room itself. I just gulped my anger and gave a plain look, I was not interested to show up my emotions. After all few more hours left to say bye. Yes, I went to Chennai Airport with him and with my in...
